NORWICH — The Guernsey Memorial Library will be holding their first adult craft workshop of the year at 6 p.m. this Wednesday, January 12. Participants in the free workshop will be crocheting their own hooded scarves. All supplies are provided, and registration is not necessary to attend.

The workshops began in the summer of 2019, as a way to provide area residents with the ability to try something new and meet new people, completely free of charge.

“The goal of this is to teach people to do things, to have folks experience a sense of community, and make friends at times when that’s hard to do, especially since most places you go you have to spend money in order to spend time there,” said Guernsey Memorial Library Director Connie Dalrymple.

All supplies will be provided, and there is no registration required for Wednesday’s craft. Dalrymple said registration is “very rarely” required, and depends on availability of materials.

“Only if we might have trouble getting the materials that we need. Most of it is, if you want to come, you come. And sometimes only a few people show up, and then sometimes 25 people show up and we have a waiting list for the next time we do it,” said Dalrymple. “So it varies depending on popularity. Crochet is one of our very popular ones.”
